BLOGTHIS!

THERE’S a new blog in town @BlogThis!
Linked to Freo’s independent print and online publication at www.streetwisemedia.com.au, BlogThis! brings thousands of readers informed comment, criticism, praise and protest.
BlogThis! is not a rumour mill or refuge for bias or bullshit. There are enough ‘community’ bloggers already posing as news sources in a city that demands unbiased, accurate and informative views.
Big issues face the community in 2026 such as rising living costs, interest rates and lack of housing, council budget blow-outs, new developments and controversial plans for bicentenary celebrations, so it is important to defer to credible high quality content and analysis to keep readers up to date, and involved.
Backed by local sources (people), not fake news or conspiracy, BlogThis! is a platform for civil debate, conversation and engagement in issues which affect the way we live, work and think.
The StreetWise blogspot is part of the new reporting platform of award winning journalists, editors and photographers who will bring local readers the latest news and developments in politics, business, food, hospitality, tourism and the arts.
Readers are encouraged to view the StreetWise guidelines before posting responses and contributions to its website and Facebook pages. And there is good reason why.
The law in Australia now holds publishers, including readers (followers), responsible for posts which deride and defame the reputations of others. Most page admins regularly screen comments and check notifications under guidelines or criteria posted on their own pages.
Blogs or weblogs are informal pages or sites run by individuals or groups sharing views and opinions on various subjects such as film, arts, politics, sports and other community events and announcements. But they are not trained journalists.
Journalists also blog, but their views and opinions are based on facts, their writing style and investigative reporting focused on the ethical pursuit of information.
Non-journalistic blogs do not meet this standard and there are plenty of examples in Fremantle which often stray into nastiness and defamatory attacks.
BlogThis! brings readers unique insights into people, places and special events taking place in our much-loved port city. Enjoy.
